Tender for Park St. Sidewalk construction
Tender
Tenders for “Park St. Sidewalk construction” will be received at the Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands Municipal Office 14 Water St. East by no later than 12 noon Wednesday April 15, 2024.
Tender forms are available from the Municipal Office at 14 Water St. East Little Current, Ontario and on the Town of NEMI website at www.townofnemi.on.ca tenders must be submitted in an envelope clearly marked “Park St. Sidewalk construction” or emailed to pmyers@townofnemi.on.ca
Each bidder is responsible for delivery of the tender to the address listed above and will not be considered if there is a late submission. The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.

Scope of work
This tender involves the full construction of sidewalk on Park St., approximately 390 lineal meters in length by standard 1.5 meters in width. The thickness will be a standard 150mm. Utility adjustments, any work done to adjust maintenance holes, valve chambers, and catch basins shall be according to OPSS 408.
The contractor shall provide all necessary materials, equipment, labour, supervision and all incidental labour and materials necessary to carry out the work specified.
The contractor shall indicate the proposed starting and completion dates. The successful contractor will not be able to start work until notified by municipal staff of council’s acceptance.
Location of work
All work to be done is located in Little Current, Ontario on Hayward/Park St.
Tender term and conditions
The following terms and conditions should apply to this tender
- The contractor has carefully examined the conditions and specifications attached and referred to in this contract and has carefully examined the site and work location, and understands and accepts the said conditions and specifications, and for the prices set forth in this quotation, hereby offers to furnish all labour, equipment and materials, except as otherwise specified in the contract to complete the work in strict accordance with said conditions and specifications.
- All documentation requirements shall be submitted to the Town within 10 days of notification of being the successful bidder. This will include a Certificate of Insurance with the Town listed as a named insured and a WSIB Clearance certificate.
- This offer shall be irrevocable for a period of thirty (30) calendar days following the date of the tender opening.
General specifications
Scheduling
- All work shall be done to the satisfaction of the town of northeastern Manitoulin and the islands.
- All work shall be done in accordance with all applicable and current Ontario provincial standard specifications and Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and the islands standards.
- Prior to commencement of construction, the contractor shall arrange a meeting with the town’s manager of public works
- The contractor is responsible for obtaining all utility locations, as required, prior to commencing the work. All costs associated with damage to utilities shall be repaired at contractor’s expense.
Dust control
Contractor shall provide adequate dust control that would be borne from operations of this contract. The cost of dust control shall be covered by the contractor.
Supply of material
All materials necessary for the proper completion of the work of this contract shall be supplied by the contractor unless otherwise specified.
Protection of survey bars/monuments/markers
It shall be the contractor’s responsibility to protect survey stakes and markers. Monuments, iron bars. Any standard irons damaged by the contractor due to their operations shall be replaced at their expense.
Concrete sidewalk reinforcing
The reinforcing shall be welded wire fabric 152x152mwx18.7mwx18.7mw placed were required. Dummy joints shall be constructed every 1.5m, contraction joints every 6m and expansion joints at limits of the reinforced section.
Traffic control
When traffic control is for pedestrian and vehicular traffic is required, the contractor shall provide signage and flag persons, in accordance with the ministry of labour, at its expense.
Tender requirements
- The correct tender form as supplied by the Town for this contract must be used and in the possession of the Clerk or a duly authorized representative before 12 noon April 15, 2024, local time of the closing date.
- The tender must be eligible and all items must be bid with the unit price for every item.
- The bid must not be restricted by a statement added to the tender form or a covering letter or alterations to the tender form provided by the town. A bidder desiring to make adjustments to a tender. Must withdraw the tender and/or supersede it with later tender submission prior to the closing date.
- Tender must be sealed in an envelope and clearly marked “Park St. Sidewalk construction” if mailing or delivering in person.
- The tender form must be signed in the space provided on the form, with the signature of the bidder or a responsible official of the organization bidding. If a joint bid is submitted, it must be signed on behalf of each of the bidders and if the signing authority of each of the bidders is vested in one individual, he shall sign separately on behalf of each bidder.
