Councillor Bill Koehler was honored by Mayor Al MacNevin at Tuesday night’s meeting for 25 years of service as a Municipal Councillor with the Town of NEMI.
Councillor Koehler was also formally recognized for his many years of service as an elected official at the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities held earlier in May, by the Honorable Steve Clark, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
Minister Steve Clark commended, “Bill Koehler for serving as a Councilor for the Town of Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands for over twenty-five years. His career as an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police, has helped him develop an uncanny ability to sense the needs of his constituents. He has worked tirelessly for the citizens of his community to ensure that our municipal services meet the highest standards while keeping an eye on the bottom line. Bill has served on many committees over the years. These include but are not limited to the North Channel Marine Tourism Committee, the Manitoulin East Airport Commission, Provincial Offences Committee and a host of others.
